Rupea Citadel, Viscri and Emerald Lake Day Trip From Brasov
The medieval fortress from Rupea, the Emerald Lake from Racos and the traditional Transylvanian village in Viscri are our main landmarks for the day. The Rupea Citadel has been built in the 10th century on the ruins of a former defensive fort belonging to the Dacians. It sits on a 120 m high basalt massive. The landmark has been recently restored. It provides some great views over the Brasov county. From Rupea we head on to Viscri. Here we walk through the streets of this traditional and well preserved Transylvanian village. We visit the fortified church. Local restaurants for lunch are also popular in this location. From Viscri we start our return to Brasov, but not before we visit the Emerald lake and the basalt columns from Racos!

Route: Brasov -> Racos (Stop and walk to the Emerald Lake for sightseeing and photos.) -> Rupea (Citadel visit with photos and time for souvenirs.) -> Viscri (Walk around a traditional Transylvanian village and a tour of the fortified church. Souvenirs and food made by locals is available for purchase. ) -> Rupea -> return to Brasov.
